RIP GRLCHLD
Hey everyone,
I received some really devastating news today.
I refuse to give anyone the satisfaction of hashing out details, but the long short of it is that backstock I keep talking about, of my physical work (my zines)… no longer exists. They have been “destroyed/gotten rid of.”
This news came this morning, just one day after making a pretty long journey to a community bookstore where I had gone for the sole purpose of negotiating them carrying my zines. My plan was to sell 1/3 of the remaining stock to said bookstore, and put the rest of them on the online store here.
I lost 150+ copies of GRLCHLD Vol. 1 & 2 combined, which is ~$1,500 I was counting on to… sustain life?
All I will say is this—I would never tamper with, destroy, even touch another artist’s work. This is something I have always believed and held above any personal qualms, petty bullshit, or my personal feelings. The irony of my current situation regarding this exact predicament is certainly not beyond me.
I really don’t like asking for help, but I am in a position where I would like to extend the friendliest of invitations to join my Substack subscription if you haven’t already, or if you are currently a free member. I understand this is a huge ask, and not something everyone is capable of, so please know—above all, I am just glad you are here in any capacity. Nothing is changing in terms of those on a comp. subscription—I will always keep my word there, if you want access and you cannot afford it, I’ll always keep you on comp.
I also still have very few, but a handful of the original GRLCHLD zines (Vol. 1 & 2) up in the store (CLICK ME I AM A LINK FOR THE SHOP).
I am also available again on Cameo (CLICK ME I AM A LINK FOR CAMEO). Here, I can do anything from sing you one of my originals, to offer random advice, greetings, answer questions… honestly, whatever!
I am still working on getting GRLCHLD Vol. 3 ready and printed, but to be honest… this is a setback.
In other, much more exciting news, and honestly the only thing getting me through right now… I am gearing up to work with fellow musicians again… finally.
Everything is very preliminary, but all involved are very excited. I can’t wait to share more details with you in future.
I’m very focused on that right now—rehearsing, writing out my songs and their chords, and optimizing my space for this project. I’m extremely grateful to have work to delve into at this time, and I may be online less (SHOCKER) in the coming weeks as I let myself really get into this new environment.
I love you all, thank you for being here, and…. fuuuuuuck that, eh?!
